Metapod is a Bug-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I, which is recognized by its distinctive cocoon shape. With a primarily green body, it's known for its hardened shell and its ability to endure attacks rather than retaliate. In terms of size, Metapod is usually about 2 feet 4 inches tall and weighs approximately 21.8 pounds. Its primary ability is Shed Skin which gives it a chance to get rid of burns, poison, and paralysis during battle. Though Metapod is known for its limited mobility and move set (usually only Harden in the wild) it does have the potential to learn other moves via leveling up, TMs, and breeding, usually when captured or evolved from Caterpie. Metapod evolves from Caterpie starting at level 7 and evolves into Butterfree when it reaches level 10. This progression from caterpillar (Caterpie) to cocoon (Metapod) and then to butterfly (Butterfree) mirrors the lifecycle of many real-world insects.
